Avoid ice buildup in downspouts with rain chains

When traditional downspouts freeze in the winter, they can become clogged and ineffective. Rain chains are an interesting and beautiful alternative to traditional rain gutter downspouts. Widely used in Japan, these chains can be made from decorative metal cups or even heavy-duty linked chain. Rain runs down the chain from the gutter to the ground and can easily route water to a collection container.
