Breathe easier with free radon testing
Apparently the Environmental Protection Agency has set aside the entire month of January to warn Americans about the dangers of Radon. This invisible, odorless gas is released during the decay of radioactive elements in granite countertops or can seep into homes from underground uranium deposits, and build up to higher than normal levels, so it can occur pretty much anywhere. The EPA estimates that one in every 15 homes has a high level of radon at or above the recommended action level, and it’s responsible for an estimated 20,000 lung cancer deaths annually.
But hope is on the horizon. Texas and New Mexico residents can place an order for a free kit by visiting the DrHomeAir website. Or if you don’t qualify for a free kit, you can pick one up for about $15.
