COASTAL BEND GREEN BUILT PROGRAM DAY
WHEREAS, Coastal Bend Green Built is a voluntary partnership of local home builders, industry supporters, and sponsors committed to creating awareness and interest in the construction of higher performance, lower impact residential homes in the Coastal Bend; and because the program has a regionally specific green building construction protocol that Home Builder Association (HBA) members have deemed essential in order for a home to be recognized by the program; and because homes built to this protocol conform to higher standards of site management and waste recycling, water efficiency, indoor air quality, energy efficiency, materials, and homeowner education; and
WHEREAS, The members of the Builders Association of Corpus Christi have taken it upon themselves to develop a program that will allow us all to begin to implement “green building”; and
WHEREAS, Homes that have been Coastal Bend Green Built certified will have met stringent building requirements aimed at reducing energy costs, improving air quality and making them more sustainable; and because each of the homes will also have an ENERGY STAR certification; and
WHEREAS, This program was developed in cooperation with the City of Corpus Christi Development Services and the Realtors Association of Corpus Christi.
NOW, therefore, pursuant to the powers vested in me as Mayor of the City of Corpus Christi, I do hereby proclaim, May 12, 2009
“COASTAL BEND GREEN BUILT PROGRAM DAY”
In Corpus Christi, Texas, and encourage all citizens to thank the Builders Association of Corpus Christi for their efforts in developing the “green building” basic program.
