Cradle to Cradle certification undergoes a major change

Have you ever seen a “living roof,” one that is planted with grasses? Well, that’s an example of Cradle to Cradle (C2C) design. C2C design is based on creating sustainable systems for building. C2C certification uses several measures to decide if a product meets the goals of regenerative design: identifying all chemicals used in the product and their potentials hazards, how easily recycled it is, how much energy and water is used in its manufacture, and if fair labor practices are utilized. The newly formed Green Products Innovation Institute is taking over the C2C certification process, in hopes of fostering more innovation.
