Drywall problems continue for some homeowners

Drywall investigation expands into US products

We have been following the story of the feds looking into complaints from homeowners that some pretty bad stuff is happening to them and their houses as a result of some bad drywall imported from China. This stuff gives off a rotten egg smell, can get you sick, and mess up your copper pipes. That is some really nasty drywall!

While the investigation is still mainly focused on the Chinese import drywall, new reports out of Florida indicate that some U.S. manufactured drywall may be causing some of these same problems. There are reports of homeowners complaining of the very same symptoms, and it's believed that, in fact, some U.S. gypsum is at fault.

Not sure what to believe here, but if you're about to build, make sure you do as much research and ask as many questions as you can about the origins of the drywall you're planning on using and it's composition.
