How is home design like a hot cup of coffee? Builder magazine breaks down Passive House design.
Adding green energy features to your traditional home may not be enough. Architect Dennis Wedlick says that “throwing solar panels on a conventional, energy inefficient home is like putting a saddle on a hippo.”
He claims that passive home design uses only ten percent of the average home’s energy budget to heat and cool a house, even during a Southern summer.
In the following video, posted on BuilderOnline.com, Wedlick explains the basics on how Passive House design works and how the theory behind it is very similar to the technology we use to keep our Starbucks coffee piping hot.
