Butner is the nation’s first and only LEED-certified prison

OK. Of course this will never happen but what if you were about to be put in prison for the rest of your life. Wow! So what are some of the things you'd be looking for in a prison? Air conditioning ... good food ... a nice outdoor recreation area? And for sure you'd want it to be LEED certified.

Not sure about all those other things but one thing is for sure. Bernie Madoff's going to serve out his term in a green prison. Butner Federal Prison in North Carolina is the nations first LEED certified prison. Glad to know we're looking at more sustainable ways to incarcerate.
