Radon Resistant New Construction

By: McCoy's Editorial Team

The EPA estimates that one in every 15 homes has a high level of radon, an invisible, odorless gas released during the decay of radioactive elements. Radon can seep into homes from underground uranium deposits, and it can occur pretty much anywhere. It’s responsible for an estimated 20,000 lung cancer deaths annually.

The EPA recommends the following building techniques in new construction to head radon off at the pass—because it’s much cheaper to prevent radon build up than to correct the problem. They even give builders a handy checklist to help them market their radon resistant construction techniques to home buyers.
