Some Energy Star products coming under fire

By: McCoy's Editorial Team

DOE will randomly review Energy Star certification records and hold manufacturers accountable for failing to certify covered products or for violating certification rules

We have talked here before about what does and doesn't constitute an energy-efficient "green" product. There are lots of claims out there as manufacturers all try to cash in on the current popularity of the green movement. So to say the least, it's disappointing to hear that some products with the Energy Star label don't perhaps deliver the energy savings they claim to.

Apparently the feds weren't keeping a close eye on the manufacturers and as a result, some overly ambitious claims were made.  Well now the cat's out of the bag and the Department of Energy is getting revved up to institute some new standards to make sure this doesn't happen again. If you can't trust you Energy Star label, who can you trust?

Just how bright is your star?
