There's a new sheriff in town

The government agency is now preparing to take “aggressive” action against any appliance manufacturers that did not meet its Jan. 8 deadline to submit correct energy use data

We have mentioned previously in this blog the fact that the Federal Government has been doing some sabre rattling and saying it's going to get much more serious about protecting the integrity of the Energy Star logo. Apparently, there are some manufacturers that are labeling appliances that when tested, don't meet the energy saving standards they claim to.

And with this post, it looks like the Department of Energy means business. Manufacturers are under the gun to submit supporting data to prove that the appliances they manufacture, and carry the Energy Star label, do in fact meet the requirements they need to in order to display that label. And if they don't comply, the DOE is saying you have to stop using the label.

Stop right where you are Mr. Refrigerator!
