USGBC delves into the LEED product certification

The U.S. Green Building Council recently announced the launch of a pilot credit for LEED certified building products. The credit allows projects to obtain LEED points if at least 10 percent of the non-structural products meet specific green building certifications. As the USGBC enters the realm of green product certification, will this curb some of the green washing that has taken place with some products today? How will this affect the credibility of LEED certifications on projects?
