McCoy’s celebrates three decades of service
ARANSAS PASS, Texas, October 30, 2010—On Saturday, October 30, McCoy’s Building Supply recognized Bob Paul of Aransas Pass for 30 years of service with the company.
Paul was a long term store manager at McCoy’s Beeville location before joining the Aransas Pass team as store manager and in more recent years as part of the sales team.
In an announcement to all McCoy’s employees CEO Brian McCoy praised Paul for three decades of dedication to the building supply retailer.
“Bob does such a great job serving our customers,” McCoy said. “We were a small company thirty years ago. I don’t get the opportunity to be around too many McCoy’s people who have worked for my dad, and who worked for my brother mike, my deceased brother Dennis and myself. Bob is just one of those special guys who has enhanced our McCoy’s culture. He’s married to Sandy. They’re an awesome couple. And thanks to Bob and Sandy, we got Robert Paul, their son, as our manager in Brazoria. Robert had the chance to grow up around McCoy’s. And the Paul family is just so special to us. I’d like to thank Bob for 30 years. He’s just made such a big impact on our company.”
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, average employment tenure in the U.S. is 4.1 years, with retail jobs like McCoy’s typically having a shorter tenure, at 2.9 years. Paul ranks as 35th on the list of most tenured employees at McCoy’s. Long-term service with McCoy’s is worn as a badge of honor. Employees who rank in the 500 most-tenured positions in the company receive a sticker with their ranking number to wear proudly on their name tags. A wall in the common area of the company’s headquarters in San Marcos, Texas displays the top 500 employees names.
McCoy’s is one of the nation’s largest privately held building supply retailers.
