Next to food, water and medical services, building materials are one of the most essential supplies needed by a recovering Gulf Coast following the devastation of a hurricane. That’s why McCoy’s Building Supply has an emergency response team on standby ready to open business doors and distribute materials as soon as possible following the landfall of Hurricane Ike.

Media and emergency services can look for live updates on store closings and re-openings on McCoy’s Web site, www.mccoys.com.

“We’re here to serve our customers and communities as long as we can,” said McCoy’s Director of Marketing, Vance Posey. “And like with Rita in 2005, we plan on being the first responders once the storm has passed.

Following Hurricane Rita, which hit hard the communities surrounding McCoy’s Orange, Texas location, McCoy’s received national recognition for its quick reaction to the storm. A team of 16 volunteers from McCoy’s corporate office in San Marcos, Texas traveled to the damaged store and opened its doors a mere 18 hours after the storm had passed, before even Red Cross or Federal Emergency Management Agency crews had made their rounds in the damaged community.

      • Aransas Pass, 2118 W. Wheeler Ave., (361) 758-8081
