McCoy’s Recognized by InfoWeek Magazine for Innovative Business Technology

McCoy’s Building Supply was recently recognized by Information Week Magazine for its innovative use of business technology.  Headquartered in San Marcos, Texas, McCoy Corporation ranked 26 on the list of 500 top innovative users of business technology, and was listed first in the Specialty Retailing category.

In addition, McCoy’s Contractor Network was chosen by the Information Week judges as one of the “20 Great Ideas To Steal.”

Accepting the honor at the 2011 Information Week 500 Conference and Awards Gala in Monarch, California was Dennis Strong, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of McCoy Corporation.  “Creating an exceptional customer service experience is McCoy’s passion.  Our technology is the backbone that enables our store teams to best meet the needs of both our professional and retail customers.  McCoy’s feels honored to be recognized among the Information Week 500 for the role technology plays in our ultimate goal of serving our customers.”

Information Week chooses its award recipients based on their innovative use of technology in the following areas: spearheading alternative business and IT models, cultivating, sponsoring and driving innovation, boosting brand equity, leveraging social networking for competitive advantage, and showing the business value of security investments.

Business week judges were especially impressed with McCoy’s Contractor Network, the company’s new online directory of its best contractor customers, which can be accessed from www.mccoys.com.  Information Week wrote that through the Contractor Network, McCoy’s “provides its best contractor customers with customized Web pages where they can advertise services they offer, their qualifications, licensing, warranties, and pricing, as well as photographs of their work”.  By entering a zip code, a customer needing a service provider can access a directory of contractors and obtain the information they’ll need to contact them about a project.  Information Week goes on to say “What makes McCoy’s Contractor Network intriguing is that contractors must be invited to join; it’s not a pay-to-play program.  Also, customers seeking a contractor don’t fill out a form and wait for responses.  They contact contractors directly.”
