McCoy’s Building Supply Celebrates with a Grand Re-Opening

McCoy’s Building Supply located at 2507 West Highway 82 in Gainesville celebrated major construction upgrades to the store with a Grand Re-Opening and “board cutting” this past Friday and Saturday.

The Gainesville store originally opened in 1985 and after 32 years, the facility was due for a facelift. The addition of two covered drive-thru lumberyard buildings, re-modeled and enlarged store bathrooms, and a new concrete parking lot proved a welcome change. “These improvements will definitely help us better serve our Born-to-Build customers who work so hard day in and day out,” shares Jason Velasquez, Store Manager. “Our lumberyard operation is even more efficient and easy to navigate.”

The store held festivities on May 8^th and 9th with giveaways, door prizes, and a BBQ lunch that served over 500 people. The board cutting is a unique McCoy’s tradition. Whenever a new store is opened, the manager saws through a board painted green and yellow with a handsaw for a grand opening photo op. A simple ribbon cutting just doesn’t work for a building supply store and lumberyard.

2017 marks McCoy’s 90th year in business and the company will open two new stores before the end of the year along with another Grand Re-Opening at its Huntsville location. “This is such an exciting time to be working at McCoy’s,” says Velasquez. “It’s inspiring to work for a company that has such a long history and deep roots in Texas.“
