McCoy’s Breaks Ground on New Weimar, Texas Location

After serving the Weimar community since 1975, McCoy’s Building Supply is proud to announce the groundbreaking of a new retail location on the north-bound side of Interstate 10, just east of Hwy 155 in Weimar, Texas. The company felt Weimar’s picturesque setting deserved a newer, more attractive retail store with easier access for customers in Weimar, Columbus, LaGrange, Schulenburg, and surrounding communities, and will move its operation into the new facility when construction in complete.

ComingSoon_WeimarA standout feature at the new store will be an expanded drive-thru lumberyard, which supports the company’s longstanding belief that it takes exceptional service to compete in today’s economy. “The new and improved drive-thru lumberyard will allow us to be more efficient when taking care of our customers and that includes loading your lumber for you and letting you get on your way a little quicker,” says Store Manager, Scott Sternadel.

The community, nestled midway between Houston and San Antonio along Interstate 10, boasts a rich history as a tight-knit farming and ranching community and the store’s employees are a focused and seasoned team. The employees at the Weimar store are some of the most tenured and knowledgeable in the entire company, with a combined 185 years of experience serving McCoy’s customers. “Our customers can expect a level of knowledge and customer service that’s hard to beat anywhere else,” explains Sternadel.

In addition to the beefed-up drive-thru lumberyard, the new location will be equipped with a 3,000 sq. ft. warehouse facility along with 15,000 sq. ft. retail space. The new structures allow the company to better serve its customers by offering a more comfortable covered outdoor facility that better protects products stored outside. “The new location will add so much value to our customers,” says Store Development Manager, Carlos Garcia. “Not only is the store easier to get to but the covered space gets our employees, customers, and our products out of the elements, and in 100+ degree weather that makes a big difference.”

McCoy’s President and CEO, Brian McCoy, has strong personal ties to the community of Weimar because he helped open the original store in 1975 as Assistant Manager. “All of twenty years old and fresh out of college, I remember living at the Weimar Motel where everything I owned could fit in my ’70 Ford Torino,” recalls McCoy. “I also remember just how friendly everyone was to me and the people of McCoy’s. We are so excited to build an upgraded facility that is in town and more easily accessible by all our customers in Weimar and the surrounding communities. We’ve owned the site of our new location for several years, and we are so thrilled to finally begin construction for an early fall 2014 opening.”
